Accounting Manager

Summary of Primary Responsibilities:

The Accounting Manager is primarily responsible for various aspects of the monthly financial close including close management, consolidations, and review of journal entries prepared by Staff and Senior Accountants. In addition, the Accounting Manager will work closely with the Finance Director to prepare various financial schedules for quarterly SEC reporting purposes including Form 10-Q and 10-K based on understanding of US GAAP.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and manages quarterly close timelines
  • Responsible for coordinating consolidation of financials
  • Manages the preparation and filing of SEC documents, including XBRL review
  • Prepares summary financials for Press Releases and Investor presentations
  • Assists in preparation of the quarterly consolidated cash flow to comply with SEC reporting requirements
  • Drafts technical accounting memos based on US GAAP
  • Ensures US GAAP checklists and key controls have been completed
  • Interfaces with external accountants for quarterly reviews and annual audits including preparation of required schedules and analyses
  • Participates in the preparation for reporting on effectiveness of controls as required by Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned

Job Complexity:

Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:


Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least 7+ years of financial & managerial accounting experience
  • CPA and audit manager experience required
  • Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
  • Robust internal controls understanding and documentation of relevant financial processes and transactions
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft office suits and related tools
  • Experience in accounting software; SAP experience preferred

Desired Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Biotech/medical device and public company experience a plus, but not required; commercial and manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills, ability to present financial information in a meaningful, understandable way both internally and externally
  • Ability to question norms and respectfully challenge others
  • Good team building skills including trust, professionalism, and be able to garner consensus across diverse groups
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment
