Job Title:  Associate Director of Facilities

Supervisor: Executive Director of Technical Services

Summary of Primary Responsibilities:

The Associate Director of Facilities is responsible for the maintenance of all physical assets of the company including equipment, machinery, and facilities. Develops budgets for cost effective maintenance of existing property, and plans for contingency repairs based on service life of equipment. Recommends facility and equipment upgrades. Plans, budgets, and functions a project leader for facility and/or equipment modifications. Interacts with federal state and local authorities with regard to facilities related issues and permits.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to maintain all company property, equipment and building systems in good working order
  • Minimize down time in production floor and utilizes resources to meet customer service commitments
  • Develop, implement and monitor budgets; report potential budget issues and take corrective action to stay within budgets
  • Interact with other departments to align activities and achieve company goals
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for all systems and equipment
  • Identify and recommend facilities improvement that will increase productivity, efficiency and lower product cost
  • Maintain accurate records or record system that comply with applicable laws and Quality System requirements
  • Develop and maintain solid working relationships with federal, state and local authorities; represents and advocates Anika’s positions with these agencies
  • Develop and maintain relationship with building landlord; resolve issues and concerns between the parties
  • Identify and negotiate with outside contractors to perform specialized repairs
  • Design and plan facility upgrades; Acts as Project Lead and coordinate all parties to meet construction deadlines and budgetary requirements
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise professional within the facilities function, including employees within the maintenance and trades. Responsible for supervision of contractors on site.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Required:

  • Requires a BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Requires a minimum of 5-8 years experience in the maintenance and construction of GMP facilities, with P&L responsibilities
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of the trades to include HVAC, plumbing and pipefitting, electrical and carpentry required
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous project management experience required
