Work-Life Balance
Anika Therapeutics is dedicated to supporting the needs of its employees and their families. Knowing the challenge of maintaining a balance between the competing priorities of career and personal life, the Company offers numerous programs to help.
Our Work-Life Balance programs strive to support a productive and performance-driven workplace by accommodating the balance between work and life responsibilities. We offer the chance to focus on the work at hand without worrying about the future.
401(K) Plan
Anika matches employee contributions dollar-for-dollar up to 5% of pay. Vesting in the employer match is 25% per year. You double your 401(k) deferral when you contribute as little as 5% to your 401(k) account! Our program is with Fidelity Investments and you can enroll in the Plan the first day of each month. More than 20 investment options are currently available. You receive an enrollment kit on your date of hire.
Life and AD&D Benefit
Your life insurance benefit is equal to two and a half times your base salary. The AD&D benefit is equal to another two and a half times your base salary. Anika pays the premiums in full. Our coverage is with Mutual of Omaha.
Short-Term Disability
Employees are eligible for short-term disability benefits after only three months of employment. Your salary, while disabled, depends on the number of years you have been employed, but is not less than 50% and can be up to 100% of your regular monthly rate. Short-term disability pay is available for up to three months before long-term disability commences. For work-related incidents, the Company has workers’ compensation insurance.
Long-Term Disability
After a 90-day waiting period, Anika’s long-term disability insurance provides a salary-continuation benefit equal to 60% of your monthly salary. Anika pays the premiums in full.
Section 125 Plan—Flexible Spending Accounts and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts
Anika’s Section 125 plan allows employees to (1) have premium contributions for medical and dental insurance withheld pre-tax, (2) defer dollars on a pre-tax basis to a medical reimbursement account covering non-reimbursed medical expenses up to $12,000 per year, and (3) defer up to $5,000 pre-tax per calendar year to a dependent care reimbursement account for reimbursement of qualified dependent-care expenses.
Travel Insurance
The Company maintains a business travel accident insurance policy that provides coverage for accidental death while traveling on Company business, in addition to the group life insurance benefit. Anika pays 100% of the cost of these premiums.
Auto and Home Group Insurance Discount Programs
As a member of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MBC), Anika employees are eligible to receive a discount on their MA and NH auto insurance. The MBC has partnered with Columbia Insurance Agency to administer this program. You may also be eligible to receive a discount on your home insurance policy as well.
